- Horizontal forehead lines
- Crow’s feet (outer eye areas)
- Muscles of mastication
- Radial lip lines (smoker or water bottle lines)
What is Botox Cosmetic?
Botox is a medication that can only be prescribed to you by a healthcare professional. It is used as a temporary treatment for patients over the age of 18. Botox treatments are quick and comfortable, and within hours you will begin to notice a difference in the way your skin looks and feels.
How does Botox work?
Most lines on the face are caused by the repetitive creasing and folding of the skin by underlying muscles. These lines are referred to as dynamic wrinkles and they become hyper-dynamic as we age due to habit.
Botox uses a special protein to relax selected muscles which allows skin to recover to its natural smoothness. In doing so, Botox helps to relax the muscles beneath the skin, so that fine lines and wrinkles become less visible, giving the skin a healthy, more youthful appearance.
Botox is also used to relieve symptoms of TMJ disorder. Botox is used to reduce the amount of muscle activity in selected muscles which decreases the stress placed on the teeth and jaw so that patients feel comfortable and confident.
Depending on each individual case, the results can last between three and six months. Treatment is temporary, and once the Botox begins to wear off, the skin will return to the way it looked before treatment.
